Take Every Moment
The young girl pictured is named Jada. This horror story is one that I could only imagine as being my worst nightmare that seemingly is never ending. She and her story went viral because she was not only raped but then people posted a picture of her body as she laid on the floor unconscious. The worst part is people began mocking Jada by posting pictures of themselves in the same pose as Jada's unconscious body an using the hashtag JadaPose... As a way to mock her. Luckily she is alive.
When I first saw this story it disgusted me. I really couldn't understand why people would seriously take something as serious as rape and then joke about it in the most disrespectful way possible. But Jada has taken the initiative to try to reclaim her life by speaking out against those who are completely and utterly heartless. GREAT JOB JADA and I SUPPORT YOU!
So this story got me thinking about the children of this generation. It's crazy what they take in through music, T.v, internet, etc. and the fact there is so much negativity coming from these different mediums. There is a subtle yes being told to the younger generation about behaviors that are not okay. There is a subliminal and even clear giving of attention to those who post bad behavior on social media, then the behavior is laughed off or reposted, shared, or retweeted and shrugged off as a laugh of the day or as JUST a video....That's why the older generations should take EVERY opportunity to teach the younger generation. Teach them about the importance of education and self-respect. Teach boys about chivalry and respecting girls. Teach girls about respecting themselves and being confident in who they are. Also teach them that they aren't invincible and there are consequences for their actions. We must not give attention to bad or negative behaviors such as children younger than 6 cursing, or videos of children setting themselves on fire OR even fights that are posted to social media. We must combat the negativity in any way possible. We have to teach the younger generation to think things through. If you are a new parent, take all moments to teach your children. I know we can't really help the internet that is being made and we can't help that children grow up in an age of technology and are exposed to it but we can be examples. Leading by example and not merely through the "Do as I say not as I do" philosophy.
Let's change the younger generation for the better.
