More Than Acceptable Flaws

Have you ever (or are currently struggling with) something that you just can't seem to shake off? Almost like it was your Achilles heel. Dealing with things that seem to mess up who we believe ourselves to be can really mess up our heads and even our lives if we let it. I'm sure I can think of at least two things that really tend to get to me ( well actually three now that I think about it). For the most part I know what it is that I struggle with but often times it is at this point that I get stuck. Because the solution seemingly tends to be something as simple as "STOP IT" But when you try to, it is not that simple.

This reminds me of the cartoon Hercules movie. If you hadn't seen it in a while go ahead and watch it because it applies SOOOOOO much at this point. (If you have watched it, or can at least remember most of the movie then you understand why). Accepting your flaws, I feel, can be one of the hardest tasks that we as individuals have to do in order to truly be Okay with who we are. Because it requires actively acknowledging that "I realize I am not perfect, this [whatever it may be] is something about myself that I may not be able to change but I still must be willing to love who I am." The sooner we can acknowledge that our flaws the better we can look at ourselves without having skewed vision. Its hard to operate when all you can think about are the things that you don't do right, or can't do.

One thing that I think is very important is evaluating yourself and your qualities. Self-reflection is vital to really being able to see what you are working with. One practice that I tend to use is meditation. Just sitting in silence, laying down, clearing my mind and letting go of all the negative things I have in my mind. Because knowing myself, If I think of everything that I may have to do all at once, I will get overwhelmed. Overall, what I am trying to say is don't focus on what you can't do. Give all of your time and energy to the things that you can. You know yourself better than anyone and know what you can do to calm yourself. Prayer is also a great thing to help accept yourself as well. We all have flaws and that's what make us individuals. I'm learning that everyday. So learn who you are and then love you :)

Until Next Time :)
