Communication Part II
This next type of communicator is one I relate to the most. Maybe (and this is a reaching statement) I think most introverts can relate to this type. That may not be true but me being an introvert and one that is the observant and thinking type, I want to just stew and think about what has happened as far as my emotions and the situation that has occurred so with this being said:
The second type of communicator: slower communicator. These communicators need time to talk about whats going on internally. They aren't always ready to lay all the eggs out on the table. They just may want to stew for a minute then come back to it. If the argument was a little heated or the discussion is on the serious side, I'd definitely say this is the way to go because you never want to say something you regret or maybe you don't have all your emotions completely in order and want to organize. It's a smart way to communicate when things are emotional. These type of communicators are quick to shut down when they feel as though they are unable to get their point across. I know for me specifically, I want there to be a discussion and I want to feel as though I am being listened to. If I am continually cut off when talking then I don't want to continue the conversation. This type of communicator needs a clear head and willingness to continue the conversation even when they aren't up to it. I know for me personally, I want to know what I want to say and what I want to get across and if that means I need to walk away for a few minutes to clear my head and gather my thoughts then that is what I want to do. Sometimes people don't understand that, and that is where I have to clearly convey that I need time. And that is where the respect and patience of the other individual should let that happen. So think about that and hopefully this helps you understand yourself and the people you interact with.
The last type of communicator I want to talk about is similar to this one but I think its a level beyond. I'm calling it the difficult communicator. Be on the look out !
