Thoughts Have Power
This is such a cliche thing to say because it seems as if its repeated a lot especially in the religious circles. But it is so true. If you think about it, they tell you to "Think Before You Speak" or "You Can Do Anything You Put Your Mind Too."
Thoughts control emotions, habits, and even self-esteem. Then if you over think (like I tend to do) Life is much more fun..... (NOT). No but seriously take some time today and examine how you think. What does your thought tell you to do? Or how to act? Even when you're in therapy they get to the root of the problem which is not the situation itself but how you think about the situation. This is really helpful ESPECIALLY if you are honest because usually it's not the person or the situation that is the hard part of life but how you think towards the situation or person.....

For example: I have the tendency to be a perfectionist. I like things to be in a certain place, I like organization. I like being sure of myself. Knowing where and how to find things makes my life make sense. So say for instance, I wake up in the morning. I didn't have my coffee, I can't find my keys, my car won't start, I'm late to work. This type of situation can (and has) made my whole outlook be negative. My thoughts are out of whack and I can be down for the remainder of my day. I never knew that I looked at negative situations in my life so extreme like that until I became aware of it recently. I had to learn that even if bad things happen it's not the end of the world and things will get better. Life is not bad..... That's the take-away. The way you think about things determines your emotions and really can set the tone and create a habit for how you react in the future. So if you find yourself in a panic mode or just in a funk because of one thing after another: just take a few breaths, calm down, and talk positive. Trust me life isn't as bad as we think. It's all about your thoughts.

P.S. One book that is really great in talking about your thoughts and mind is "Battlefield of the Mind" By Joyce Meyer. I read it and it is phenomenal. I encourage you to read it. :)
